Food Stop #2 - Boon Tong Kee Chicken Rice @ East Coast Road

Chicken rice.. I supposed that it is one of the dishes that many Singaporeans love.
It is like our iconic dishes, something not to be missed. Where is then the best chicken rice stall in Singapore? Chicken rice is so common these days that you find them almost everywhere, ranging from coffee-shop to hawker center and even to high-end hotel's restaurant.

How do you guys define what is "best"? Chicken rice... and what make up this dish is of course, the chicken itself and the fragrant rice. To me, I have tried a couple of coffee-shop's chicken rice and some big names like Boon Tong Kee Chicken rice and Five Star Hainanese Chicken Rice.
I must declare that there are still many stalls out there that I have yet to try and it might be too early for me to give the verdict of which stall served the best chicken rice, but I would still say that Bong Tong Kee is one of the best around.

Now, I would like to share about Boon Tong Kee(BTK)Chicken rice. I have been eating this brand since I was a kid. My parents would drive to Macperson and bring home a whole chicken almost monthly back then. The taste always lingers around my mind and recently, I get to eat them again. I always love BTK chicken rice because of the succulent chicken itself. The meat is really tender, juicy and you know when you chew it, the feeling is just right. I have tried other chicken rice and sometimes, their chicken tends to be too dry and it comes with this "powdery" chewing feeling. Another reason for me to recommend BTK chicken is the skin that comes along with it. I am not kidding, I really love their chicken skin! ( I was never a chicken-skin lover, because like all ladies, I am afraid of the fat it comes together as well) But in BTK, the chicken skin is so smooth and I don't really see the fats hidden underneath, and this is my determining factor of the "BEST" chicken rice. Of course, the rice plays a very important role as well. Since I have been patronizing BTK since young, I would have to say that their standard of the rice has dropped a little. But their chicken is still as tasty as ever.

The Interior of the eatery

This is the plate of succulent chicken!
Rating: 4.5/5

One of the side we ordered.
Deep-fried homemade Prawn
Rating: 5/5
This is really so good that I must give them a rating of 5. The prawn meat are so tasty and the layer outside is so crispy! It is a must-try side if you visit the East Coast Branch!

Another side dish : The Assorted Steam Egg
Rating: 4/5
The portion of this is huge and is too much for a table of 2. I didn't expect it to be this big! But we still finish this! It consisted of 3 kind of eggs, namely, Century egg( as topping), Salted egg( as topping) and the normal egg( the main bulk of the dish)
